Isn’t it strange to think of the world before the internet? Furthermore, what did we use it for before videos became popular? Probably mostly research and emails – but those days are long gone.

It’s 2022 – and video is booming now more than ever. The rise of YouTube creators, video tutorials, and the GIF world has made video the preferred way to consume content.

What is Video Content Creation?

In essence, video content creation is when a freelancer, educator, or vlogger creates a video for marketing, sales, or lead generation. If it is well-executed, the video should quickly and impactfully convey your message to your audience with strong visuals, effects, and sounds.

How Hot is Video Right Now?

Many people think, ‘Yeah, video is big, but it’s been around for a while and might die soon.’ Well, if you’re thinking that – think again. Here are three quick stats that show us why video is the hottest way to market right now:

Best Video Creation Platforms

Let’s look at the top video creation platforms for 2022:

  1. Mastera
  2. Wirecast
  3. Videoshop
  4. Magisto
  5. Animoto
  6. Animaker
  7. Moovly
  8. Adobe Premiere Pro
  9. RenderForest
  10. Viewbix
  11. ScreenFlow

When we looked at these eleven platforms – there were a few questions we asked ourselves:

  • What are the core video creation features?
  • Does the platform offer any other services?
  • How expensive is it?

Mastera

Mastera is a premium video content creation platform and is known for its adaptability. It’s quite a hybrid platform as it caters for hosting, streaming, and monetizing content effortlessly. (Whereas many other platforms focus solely on video creation). The software is extremely attractive as it empowers content creators to share and monetize their expertise stress-free

Over and above social media content creation or video creation, Mastera does an excellent job of helping you manage your platform with ease. For example, if you aren’t going to make this week’s live class, you don’t have to cancel and disappoint your students! Instead, pre-record your lesson and substitute your class session with a pre-recorded video. Mastera is very adaptable in creation, shareability, monetization, and maintenance.

MasteraLike many other video creation platforms, Mastera has tiered packages. But with Mastera, each package maintains a certain number of subscribers and features. Moreover – what you see is what you get. There are no hidden costs, and creators can quickly budget for their platform without endless charges coming off their credit cards. What clients love about Mastera’s pricing plans is that there is no contract is required. Simply sign up on a month-to-month basis and cancel at any time.

Pricing:

Get started from $39/month after a 14-day free trial. Other packages are as follows: Premium from $99/month. Elite from $199/month.

Wirecast

If you’re looking for a platform that is more about creating and streaming live videos, then Wirecast is a good option for you.

This video creation tool has many features – from streaming and recording to replaying videos, adding social media comments, or even conferencing.

Most people enjoy using Wirecast if they host things like guest lectures or award ceremonies. It’s video on a big scale – and feels similar to a news broadcasting system.

Wirecast also includes features like adding effects, text titles, and graphics to your videos. But these features do feel like they take the back seat, and the streaming and conferencing features are more prominent. It’s perfect for creators that want to spread their content far and wide and want to expand their audience with ease.

Wirecast

Although, it’s important to point out that some freelancers feel that Wirecast is a bit too complex for simple video creation and sharing. You can try out their platform for free on Mac or Windows, but the free version does include audio and video watermarks.

Pricing:

Two paid plans are available: Wirecast Studio from $599/year or Wirecast Pro from $799/year.

Videoshop

Videoshop is one of the most well-known platforms on this list – especially for social media creators. It’s a quick and easy video editing app that lets creators personalize some aspects of their videos.

If you visit the Videoshop website, you’ll notice that they immediately push you to their app. Available on Android and iOS, their app can work on almost all mainstream devices like Android smartphones, iPhones, and iPads.

The software is free to download, and the features range from simple edits to complex effects. For example, you can integrate music, add sound effects and insert subtitles. You can even share your video on social media directly from the app.

Videoshop

Videoshop is ideal for creators who want to edit a video on their iOS or Android device rapidly. However, it isn’t quite suitable for longer-form videos. It is also not ideal if you want a solution to host your on-demand content. The app is purely for creation and not so much for maintaining and monetizing your content on the platform.

Pricing:

Free app for iOS or Android devices.

Magisto

Magisto is quite different from Videoshop in that it is a fully automated video creation and editing tool. It’s powered by AI (artificial intelligence), making it a more premium video creation platform.

The platform goes through three phases:

  1. Visual analysis
  2. Audio analysis
  3. Storytelling

With their AI algorithm, Magisto selects a video or image’s premium sections and merges them into one new video. You can take the created video and add music or filters to it. Magisto also lets you record clips from within the app to make the process more streamlined.

Magisto

On the downside, Magisto is stricter with their tiered plans. They have particular criteria for each plan, limiting creators on a basic plan. For example, the base plan called Premium is $9.99/month. But you can only make videos that are up to ten minutes long. It also doesn’t include the iStock library available on the Professional and Business plans.

Pricing:

Three paid plans available: Premium $9.99/month, Professional $19.99/month, or Business $69.99/month.

Animoto

Animoto sells itself as an all-in-one platform for video creation. One of their core features is that they offer a simple and accessible platform to create professional pieces.

They offer creators the best of both worlds to create short video clips or longer-form videos like tutorials. Both types are supported on Animoto, and the software allows you to add music, text, filters, or themes to your videos. This platform is very similar to Magisto in its features and capabilities.

In addition to this, Animoto lets you create straightforward videos – and by simple, we mean simple. You can make a video using only photos and text, without even shooting any footage.

Animoto

Animoto even offers a free online video editor to customers! But, like with anything else in life – the free version is limited. If you’re looking for an advanced editor – go with one of their two paid tiers. These are better equipped to develop and edit your videos – and watermark-free!

Pricing:

Four pricing options: Free ($0/month), Basic ($16/month), Professional ($32/month), Professional Plus ($79/month).

AnimakerGet Started

Animaker specializes in video making, short video or GIF creation, and live video editing. They call this feature the ‘Swiss army knife’ of creativity. Animaker enables creators to do many different tasks through their single platform.

The software is easy to use and includes drag and drop to upload, recording, transition effects, and animations. Animaker offers six video styles; infographics, 2D, handcraft, 2.5D, whiteboard, and typography. These are a great range of video styles and make it easy for creators to quickly identify which type they desire for a specific video they’re creating.

Animaker

It’s important to note that some of the features like multi-moving and recording are only available in the pro version of the platform. Enterprise features take video creation to the next level. It includes multi-user collaboration, file management and an in-app messenger. Enterprise caters for large-scale video development – but comes at a price too.

Pricing:

Four paid plans: Personal from $10/month, Starter from $19/month, Pro from $49/month, or Enterprise with custom pricing.

Moovly

If you’re looking for a tool that will create a conference presentation, a YouTube introduction, and a tutorial video – Moovly is a serious contender. The platform prides itself on editing and animating over a simple interface.

With Moovly, you can use one of their templates or start from scratch. You can add voiceover to your videos and easily choose your video style. You can also add subtitles and translations.

Moovly

Like Mastera, Moovly is also known for having good customer service. This is an element that many video creation tools aren’t very good at. Their FAQ section is a blessing for anyone with a quick question on how to use a specific feature in the platform. If you have a more serious issue, speak to their team on their live web chat.

Moovly is great if you want to create marketing videos with some flair. However, it’s no high-end professional video editor.

Pricing:

Free version – up to 20 personal uploads.

Three paid plans: Pro from $24.92/month. Max from $49.92/month. Enterprise with custom pricing.

Adobe Premiere Pro

Adobe Premiere Pro earns a premium status in the world of tech – thanks to its sibling products as part of the great Adobe family.

You can do almost anything within this platform – and it’s an excellent option for someone looking for high-end professional video editing software. You can use audio effects, add captioning and automatic transcription, and customize the Adobe motion graphic templates.

Adobe Premiere Pro also offers free stock video from a library that includes over 6,000 high-quality video clips, including over 5,000 of those available in 4K.

Adobe Premiere Pro

Most creators using Adobe Premiere Pro do enjoy the interface. It is flexible and allows you to create custom workspaces if you prefer. The one complaint that has come up is that the interface doesn’t include a search box to find help, content, or commands. A search bar would be quicker and more efficient – we hope that they add this feature in the future!

Overall, Adobe Premiere Pro is one of the more elite video creations and editing software on this list. However, it does cater more to enterprises than individual creators.

Pricing:

Pricing for Individuals wanting Premiere Pro starts from $20.99/month. Businesses are encouraged to sign up for all Creative Cloud Apps.

RenderForest

Designed for businesses of varying sizes, RenderForest is a software solution that allows you to create and edit videos, websites, and graphics. The platform was designed to let freelancers use ready-made templates and customize them.

You can also make logos using their AI-enabled module. The logo creator module automatically makes logos based on your description. Use RenderForest to create posters, business cards, and other graphics and illustrations.

RenderForest is known for its ease of use and simplistic interface. Many users feel like the dashboard makes it easy to add songs or text to videos without having much video editing skills.

RenderForest

However, some freelancers don’t love them for their pricing model. There is a significant difference between their annual and monthly subscription prices. For example, their Pro package, when billed annually, is $19.99 per month. But if you choose to have it billed monthly, it is $49.99. That is over double the annual billing price – and for some creators that don’t want to commit to a year – it just seems like a lot.

Pricing:

Free version with 300MB of storage and videos up to three minutes long.

Four paid tiered plans: Lite from $12.99/month, Amateur from $24.99/month, Pro from $49.99/month, Agency from $49.99/month on annual billing only.

Viewbix

Viewbix is a video interaction and analytics platform – a little different from the others on this list. They specialize in delivering quality analytics to their customers, which helps creators understand what content resonates with their viewers. Insights from data also help video creators view any gaps, opportunities, or ways to make their audience’s experience more positive.

This platform focuses less on video creation and more on video performance. With Viewbix, you can link to a video player, add apps, share photos, and work on mobile devices. Viewbix offers coupon integration which helps you create a good database of viewers.

Viewbix also comes with analytics, the ability to distribute your content across multiple platforms and devices and create interactive video players.

Viewbix

Viewbix is somewhat different and not a big contender in the video content creation world. However, it does stand out in terms of its analytics and intelligence of using data the right way. It’s a robust video marketing tool to have in your back pocket.

ScreenFlow

ScreenFlow is another product by Telestream. This screen recording and video editing solution is targeted toward educators, vloggers, marketers, and more.

The platform lets you record your entire screen or a specific part of it. While it records your screen, ScreenFlow can also capture your computer’s audio or microphone. This is a handy feature for educators that want to record tutorials quickly.

The video editing interface is quite impressive, too – you can easily edit your video and then publish it directly onto platforms like Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, or the Telestream Cloud. You can also do the traditional export of the video to your desktop.

ScreenFlow

Although, be mindful of the actual user experience of the recording. You need to use specific keys to stop the recording, and if you happen to forget those keys, you may need to close the application to stop the recording.

All in all, it’s a versatile tool that helps you simultaneously record screens from multiple sources. But it may not have as advanced video editing and video hosting features that other platforms have on this list.

Pricing:

Three paid plans available: ScreenFlow from $149/year, ScreenFlow Super Pak from $209/year, ScreenFlow Super Pak + Premium Support from $239/year.
